Thank you families for taking the time to recognize our outstanding teachers!

Fairview would like to thank all Veterans and our Veteran and Office Professional, Markesha Brown-Currin.
Markesha completed Basic Training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina, then went on to AIT (Advanced Individual Training) at Fort Lee in Virginia. Her MOS ( Military Occupational Specialty) was 92A (Automated Logistical Specialist). After completing her training, she was shipped to the 2D infantry Division at Camp Castle in Dongduchen, South Korea.
She spent most of her time in the motor pool where she dispatched vehicles, issued licenses, and kept track of the necessary items that they needed to keep all our vehicles operational. She was able to meet so many interesting people like the Katusas (Korean Soldiers) and loved trying new foods. Her favorite thing to eat was Yaki Mandu (Korean dumplings).
She was able to visit Tokyo and really enjoyed visiting the temples, skiing, and hiking the mountains. For the remainder of her term, she was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. She worked in a warehouse that housed maps and as a secretary in the headquarters office. Her favorite part about being stationed in Kentucky was being able to travel throughout the south visiting Nashville and The Grand Ole Opry on her weekends off.
She is very proud to have had the ability to serve our country in the U.S. Army. It taught her discipline, integrity, teamwork and how to be a leader. It has really helped to shape her into the determined, hardworking, proud American that she is today.
Thank you Markesha and to all the Veterans for your service to our country!

All RPS 205 schools and offices are closed today in observance of the holiday.

This week is career week at Fairview. Mr. Ergle, Fairview parent, member of our PTO and pilot, presented to his son's class and read a story about being a pilot. Thank you to all the parents who have come in to present to our students! If you would like to come in to share your career, please let your child's teacher know.

Thanks to the Land of Smiles performers Hadley and Kevin (sponsored by Delta Dental) for performing a dental assembly today! Students received a toothbrush, toothpaste, flossing sticks and learned about dental hygiene.

Thanks to our community partners/firefighters Beau, Mike and Skip for providing us a fire safety assembly!

Principal Appreciation Day: This annual recognition was first approved by Illinois' Governor in 1990. We took pictures of our principals at our 41 schools & asked students to draw them for us. Here are some of their works of art. Thank you all RPS 205 Principals!

Thank you to Vicki and Rick Porter for their generous coat, book and toy donation to several of our schools! Vicki is a retired teacher. This has helped many students at our school!

Have a great day!

Both the school district & local law enforcement are aware of a generic Snapchat social media post that's making threats against schools. This posting has appeared in multiple states. Law enforcement is actively investigating to determine the origination of this source. Currently, it's deemed that the threat isn't credible, and it's not specifically targeting RPS 205 schools. Safety is our number one priority, and we take all threats seriously.

Thank you to all the families and staff who came to our back to school picnic!
